Every week, for 19 weeks we will be leaving 19 hearts around London in memory of Karen Berendique, to make people aware of what is happening in Venezuela. This everyday violence cannot be forgotten.

Part 14:  You and Venezuela sin Balas.

I have been lost for so long.

A year has passed since you left, but don’t think for even one second I have stopped thinking about you and your family.

I am so happy for the good things happening in your family lately and I am sure you are in all of them.

Here is what some friends have been doing for you and Venezuela Sin Balas.

In memory of Karen Berendique, a 19-year-old unlawfully killed in Venezuela.

Part 13:  Everywhere

We maybe far physically, but we always have Venezuela in our hearts. And we want it to be a safe country again.

That is why this time few of us decided to join against the violence in Venezuela.

For us, our children, family, friends and EVERYONE, NO MAS VIOLENCIA!!

This is a work in progress and we hope more people will join and be part of it.

Part 12:  Olympics.

She was an athlete of God, she danced beautifully.

Now she is an angel of God, and she will keep dancing beautifully, for sure.

We are lucky to be living in the city where the Olympics are being held this year. So we took Karen with us and left part of her there. We made these heart pins and gave them to the lovely Games Makers (volunteers at the Olympics) there.

Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of Heaven,
Blossom the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.

Evangeline, A Tale of Acadie by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Part 11:  Venezuela. Handmade paper hearts with Forget-me-not seeds.

I made these hearts so they will hopefully grow into beautiful gardens to remember her everywhere.

I really hope they work. They are on their way there.

Place soil in a pot, right to the top. Gently pack the soil, so it’s slightly compressed, but not too hard-packed. Place the seed paper on top, and add another thin layer of soil on top of the paper.

Give your newly planted seed paper a good soak of water right off the bat. After that, just make sure it’s always moist. This may mean watering it a little bit every day or two, but just enough to maintain that level of moisture.

You should hopefully start seeing some Forget-Me-Not sprouts pop up within a few weeks!

There is a special Angel in Heaven
that is part of me.
It is not where I wanted him
but where God wanted him to be.
He was here but just a moment
like a night time shooting star.
And though he is in Heaven
he isn’t very far.
He touched the heart of many
like only an Angel can do.
So I send this special message
to the Heaven up above.
Please take care of my Angel
and send him all my love.

Part 10:  Karen

Today is been four months since Karen died.

She is a beautiful angel now, looking after her family and everyone who loved her, but I think she is especially looking after her brother. I am really sure about that.

This time I would like to ask everyone who read this blog to think of her, say a prayer if you can, and wish her to rest in peace, to be happy and in peace in Heaven.

Karen, I didn’t know you much, but I miss you a lot.

Part 9:  Peckham

This time we decided to leave the hearts in Peckham, a town in South East London that is been hitting the news for the last few years for the wrong reasons. Young lives lost because of gang rivalry and even innocent people who were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Peckham is a proud and strong community and I don’t believe that there’s anywhere in the country where there are so many people doing so many good things to improve the lives of others.

Today, give a stranger one of your smiles.  It might be the only sunshine he sees all day.  ~Quoted in P.S. I Love You, compiled by H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

Part 8:  Eye bombing

Can we save a life with a smile?

You know, making people smile?

I think we can 🙂

We transformed some usually boring things we always find on the road and brought them to life.

This is called Eye Bombing, “Humanizing the world, one googly eye at a time”.

Humanizing … we need a lot of this. And I am not talking about transforming inanimate things, but remembering we are humans and we must treat each other like so.

I hope we made you smile, but if not, I leave you with a couple more.

Maybe not eye bombing, but eye making 😀

Go, make someone smile today.

And if I go while you’re still here… know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure behind a thin veil you cannot see through. You will not see me so you must have faith. I wait the time when we can soar again, both aware of each other. Until then, live your life to its fullest, and when you need me just whisper my name in your heart…I will be there.

Part 7:  St Christopher’s Hospice

“St Christopher’s Hospice exists to promote and provide skilled and compassionate palliative care of the highest quality.

Our vision is of a world in which all dying people and those close to them have access to appropriate care and support, when they need it, wherever they need it and whoever they are.”

Today is Fathers Day and we wanted to visit a dad in the hospice to give him the flower hearts, but we couldn’t, and of course we understood.  So we gave them to EVERYONE in the hospice to enjoy. The flowers are now in the common room. The staff at the hospice was extremely nice and we are definitely sure we will be back. The place is LOVELY.

We would like to wish a happy day to all fathers, but especially to those who have lost a child and are grieving more than ever. We will keep praying for you, for ever.

Happy Fathers Day Mr. Berendique!!

Part 6: GOSH (Great Ormond Street Hospital).

For those who don’t know, Great Ormond Street Hospital is a world-famous centre for the treatment of sick children. It was the first in the UK to offer inpatient care to children only, and their motto is “The child first and always”.

So this time, we packed some handmade flowers and sent them.

We really hope these paper flowers/hearts can brighten their day, make them smile, help them recover.

This is for you, Karen. Keep smiling!!
