There are some really nice FREE activities for children at Westminster Abbey during the summer holiday.

It is called MONKS, MONARCHS AND MERRY MAKING. Every Tuesday and Thursday children can learn a little bit about life at the Abbey and learn few skills from the past, like making natural dye and paint t-shirts with it. They are held outside in the College Garden (Education Centre if wet)

We went to one called Make like a Monk and my big boy had lots of fun.

Learn about the monks of Westminster Abbey and meet Brother William who worked in the Garden. Discover the natural plant dyes and have a go at dying a T-shirt yourself.

Children age 5+ accompanied by an adult.

And while he was learning about dyes…

We were playing by the fountain.

And taking silly pictures

I highly recommend them, book quickly and enjoy.

Also, if you fancy having a picnic, there are really lovely free mid-week lunchtime concerts at The Abbey as well. And until August 8th there will also be Summer recitals in Westminster Abbey’s sister church, St Margaret’s (commonly known as ‘the parish church of the House of Commons’). Really, really lovely.
