I am preparing our school holidays calendar so I can be sure all our days are filled with activities (relax stay at home days also included!). I always try to do a really deep research online and locally so I can take advantage of all things available in London (and sometimes a little bit further than that). I will be listing them here, of course. It is also easier to look back at them for other school-free days.

First, I wanted to recommend The Centre of the Cell , in Whitechapel. We have been there several times and it is a very interesting place for adults and children. A little bit about it:

Centre of the Cell is an educational charity dedicated to inspiring curiosity and learning by connecting science to everyday life. Centre of the Cell is an online resource, a science education centre and outreach project aimed at young people, teachers, families and community groups.

Our website was launched in March 2007 and the Centre opened in September 2009. Centre of the Cell is the first science education centre in the world to be located within medical research laboratories. The Centre is located in Whitechapel, Tower Hamlets, east London.

Admission to Centre of the Cell is free of charge for all visitors.

Centre of the Cell is fully accessible to wheelchair-users.

They also have educational activities every school holiday and half-term (booking required).
